“A man who speaks one language is worth one man, a man who speaks two languages is worth two men, a man who speaks three is worth all of humanity.”
African Proverb
We couldn’t agree more. Linguistic diversity is a heritage, it’s the key to ensuring the best possible intercultural understanding and a solid, adamantine exchange between individuals, peoples, and states. Listening and comprehension are crucial elements of evolution
We have shortened distances with increasingly efficient means of transport, but above all with digital connections. We cannot forget the importance of eliminating linguistic distances. Only language professionals can realize this great project by seizing the opportunities of a global and fluid job market.
Providing the tools to experience the world of work without barriers or limitations is one of the fundamental points that drives our mission.
Providing the tools to experience the world of work without barriers or limitations is one of the fundamental points that drives our mission.
The School welcomes students from all over Italy and abroad.
How we do it
The students of the Higher School for Linguistic Mediators of Pisa (SSML Pisa) are required to pass an entrance exam. The limited enrollment and mandatory attendance guarantee small class sizes, which allows for the application of an interactive teaching method, essential for the concrete development of linguistic skills.
The School’s facilities
The students can rely on three technologically advanced language labs where they regularly attend lessons, a computer lab for individual study, a library, and numerous study rooms. The school’s facilities and equipment are available to students even outside of class hours.

The history
SSML PISA
SINCE 1989
We were born in Pisa in 1989 with a translator’s headset in one hand and the love for languages in the other.
The Scuola Superiore per Mediatori Linguistici di Pisa (SSML Pisa University) is part of the Esedra Group, which has been working in the world of education and training since 1977. It has built an educational pathway that starts from the nursery school and reaches the University. Regardless of how diverse and manifold the activities of the different study paths are, one common thread links them all: in our schools, languages are learned.
The corporate demand for profiles with a high-level linguistic preparation has been ongoing for decades, and that is why we work every day: to eliminate the existing gap between university education, which is often too theoretical, and the needs of the world of work.
The choice to create a curriculum that included specific subjects related to linguistic competence, interpreting, and translation, along with subjects that would prepare students to work in a business environment, starts here.
